I Found Bin Laden!

Monday, August 13th, 2007

received a great present on the weekend :-). This book of pure comic gold introducing a Where’s Wally style search for Bin Laden and his cronies. There are hundreds of hilarious pop-culture (or maybe politically incorrect) references to look for, such as “Hugh Grant paying off another hooker” in London or “a pair of bunny slippers” at the Al Qa’ida pajama party in Afghanistan. I’ve already had a number of really good laughs browsing through the book, and I’m looking forward to many more.

Driving around Sydney city can be a right headache, but I stumbled upon this number plate this week:

#CC26CC

For the colour coded out there, #CC26CC is the RGB hex value for purple, the colour of the plate and car. I admit, it is a little difficult to tell, so blame the crappy camera on my phone.

A GMail Annoyance

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I love gmail. Really, I think it is the best web based email software I have ever used. The keyboard shortcuts make browsing through emails and conversations a breeze. Everyone has their pet peeves, so here is mine.

The UI for navigating between links is quite standard - click on newer or older in the email header to navigate:

Google’s help center for keyboard shortcuts lists the j key to move an older conversation and the k key to browse newer.

Have you looked at your keyboard lately? If you haven’t, take a peek:

Notice that the j key is to the left of the k key. So according to those keyboard shortcuts, newer conversations are on the right of the keyboard, but unfortunately this is switched relative to the user interface, where a newer conversation link is on the left.

Movie Quiz Answers

A while ago I posted a find-a-movie quiz released by lovefilm.com. I got lots of responses, with many many movies. There were 100 to find, but I still couldn’t find all of them. Thanks to everyone’s help, I’ve compiled an answer sheet with approximately 95 movies.

Tintin movies to be made!

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

I’ve just read that Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg are set to produce three Tintin films! The Belgian reporter always was a hero to me as a little kid, although I’m not sure what they are going to do with the whole three-d rendering situation.
