Things that drive me mad

This afternoon I went to a free concert where Yellowcard performed. I was really pumped before hand because they are a great band live (I’ve seen them before), and they were being supported by a cool local band known as Faker. I misjudged the entire situation though – not realising that a free concert held by Channel V was just asking for an over populated mosh pit of school kids looking to run around and throw themselves at each other in the death circles. All in all, they still put on a great show which was fun!

In the world of amaroK, podcasting has taken a bit of a beating, I’ve been teaching them a little bit of respect for the user in doing what is expected. I’ve shifted them all over into the database, which has resulted in better organisation, more manageable settings and all round goodness. We’ll be seeing a brand spanking new set of podcast icons come in, to help classify episodes, thanks to our awesome new artists. We’re always looking for more artists, so come in and ask! Together with muesli, 1.4 will help us see podcast related information fed directly into both the context browser and the playlist. Eventually, you might even see podcast smart playlists, eg: “All new podcasts containing linux in the description.”

Things that make me mad about podcasts: Publishers that don’t know crap about using them… Some have dates, some don’t; some are ordered chronologically, others are seemingly random; iTunes? Sure, come in and screw everything up by inserting custom rss elements everywhere. I hope these people decide to put salty pretzels up their noses in their stupidity.
