This blog is dedicated to all the users out there that think features, functionality and options should be implemented because they say so. To the rest of you, we all love you.

Lately I’ve been subject to a number of users making requests which I don’t think are necessary. I’m sure anybody developer that reads this can say the same. Unfortunately, what’s really grinding my gears is when users believe they are the epitome of correctness.
Don’t get me wrong, I love, encourage & and enthused by user feedback and ideas, but using an application is not like eating at a restaurant.
Most of us work for free on projects. Some people are luckier and are able to support themselves from such activities.
Quoting wikipedia:
The open source movement is a large movement of programmers and other computer users that advocates unrestricted access to the source code of software.
What’s this got to do with anything? Well I’m fed up of users telling us what to do. You must implement this, because it will “<insert reasoning here>”. Unfortunately for you, developers get the final say on what goes into an application.
I implore you, please, don’t abuse the developers who try their best to give time and energy to improving the software world. If you don’t like an answer, either try and provide better information to convince us or piss off.

Thanks for listening – but remember folks, its just those few people out there that irritate me!

Well, i guess you readed the thread on amarok.kde.org
Let me just say for my defense
, if i did this comment it’s because i was rejected severly by users, and it was not justified. Thus it’s not because dev couldn’t make this or that, but just because users or rather G33k flame anyone easily.
I didn’t make this thread to ORDER dev’ to make something – moreover you won’t read any “ORDER” given – i made this thread to share and get constructives opinion.
A request doesn’t appeal you, okay just say : no “it’s wrong ” or “no time for this at the moment” or again “give more proof of need”
but it wasn’t the case.
Who knows, maybe i shouldn’t have quoted “Apple” or “Arabish” to be taken seriously…
In fact, there’s no real reason to be against that but i don’t mean it has to be done!
I DO think it’s a good request cause this Is the even idea behind KDE, i mean about “CHOICE”, you can do what you want how you want.
I’m not playing kiddie, i don’t hide myself and i assume what i say cause i deeply respect dev’ and i’m in opensource since 2000 (not just passive user) so i know very well how it works.
best regards.
PS: what’s weird it’s i made two thread one on kde-forum and one of amarok, i just got “feedbacks” on the last one.
That’s more or less exactly what I said Omar. At first I didn’t understand your point and I still don’t understand your point that –reverse could be useful to anyone using a left to right language. But it is true that the fact that the sidebar doesn’t reverse with –reverse is something that should be fixed but thats its only going to happpen if someone who cares sends a patch for it (which would be accepted).
