Firstly, I am sure that I don’t need to explain to anybody my clear infatuation with any cocoa derived sweet. Maybe except peruvian coca sweets which look like kangaroo poo. Our multimedia conference is over, which is a shame but it allows me to do some travel to satiate my adventurous spirit over the next couple of days.
Ian and I left Breda, the southern Dutch town to the town of Bruges, a beautiful town in the west of the Belgian country. Belgium’s Northern region is known as Flanders, where the local people speak an old decrepit language called Flemish. In reality, it’s just Dutch but Belgians have too much pride to admit it. People don’t visit Bruges for the geography, but rather the historic and fascinating social scenes which make it so attractive. Imagine enjoying the best beer and the best hand crafted chocolate under looming medievil churches with sky high steeples shooting towards the clouds. Truly wonderful! We met three other exciting travelers, Blake & Petra from Nowra, and Aliza from New York. Together we explored the town on foot, visiting the Markt (a giant open square) with an adjoining Belfry to begin with and later towards all the other cool historic places a Belgian city would provide, such as the Heilig-Bloedbasiliek museum which houses a few drops of Jesus’ blood (apparently). Considering it was Monday we couldn’t visit any of the museums because they were closed. For another couple of hours we walked around, devouring baguettes with brie cheese for lunch and finishing off with stereotypical windmills.

I’m now in Brussels, eating chocolate laden waffles and listening to the light rain fall on the window behind me. European weather sucks and is unpredictable. So am I. I was going to go to Western Germany for 5 days, but some Germans I spoke with convinced me it was boring, and now I am going to Paris for two days. Woo, how exciting. I need to learn some French.
Okay, that’s all for now, maybe next time from France!
